Walter J. LaBuy (July 25, 1888 – September 29, 1967) was a United States federal judge.
Born in Dodge County, Wisconsin, LaBuy received an LL.B. from DePaul University College of Law in 1912. He was in private practice in Chicago, Illinois from 1912 to 1933. He was a member of the Board of Commissioners, Cook County, Illinois from 1930 to 1933. He was a judge on the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois from 1933 to 1944.
LaBuy was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He presided over the well-known trial of automaker Preston Tucker. LaBuy was nominated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on March 7, 1944, to a seat vacated by William H. Holly. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on March 29, 1944, and received his commission on March 31, 1944. He assumed senior status on January 31, 1961. LaBuy served in that capacity until September 29, 1967, due to his death.
